Medical intern Ali Graham travels to The Isle of Skye in Scotland to be in a photo shoot and somehow manages to end up at Dunvegan Castle instead of the hotel how does that happen? The keeper welcomes her and gives her a bit of the legend of the MacLeod clan and the legend of the fairy flag – a flag with the power to grant three wishes to the clan when most needed After settling into her bed Ali dreams of making love with a studly Scot to awaken and find it’s not a dream – there is a man in her bed The current Laird Rory was mortally wounded in battle and his clansmen waved the flag and the fairy magic brought the good Doctor to the rescue Ali bears an uncanny resemblance to Rory’s first wife whose death he still grieves and he finds it hard to let go and love again Ali charms most of Rory’s close associates although her doctor skills spook the superstitious clan and they fear she’s a witch Will the evil priest succeed in having her convicted and burned at the stake? Can Rory rescue her in time? Will Ali find the hidden fairy flag and wish herself back to the future or will she stay and find love in Rory’s arms? The rest of the book is filled with the usual Big Misunderstandings and heated sexual play a bit too heated IMO I did not need to know everything Rory was doing with his fingers let alone all that tongue sucking and hardening of you know what It’s on OK romance and might do in you’re in the mood for a mindless fluffy very fluffy romance but it did border on silliness a bit too much for my tastes particularly her escape from the castle tower via knotted bed sheets with not much damage outside of a sprained ankle and bumps and scrapes You tell me image error

Well Lord of the Isles wasn't uite as horrible as I thought it would be But it still is in the running for one of the worst books I read in 2010 The beginning was awful with Allie the main character a medical resident turned model waking up in the bed of a 16th century laird due to fairy magic The dialogue and storyline was just idiotic I also couldn't figure out how Allie and the castle residents would have communicated as I'm pretty sure that 16th century highlanders almost exclusively spoke Gaelic and even if they didn't it would have been difficult to understand each other and Allie was supposed to be American Yet despite the idiocy I ended up getting sucked in The book ended up being so bad that it was actually good Hah It's definitely no Outlander But if you want brain candy with hunky highlanders and a 20th century heroine who manages to survive the 16th century without actually being burned for witchcraft but comes close that's what you get There's also a plot twist in there that I saw coming less than half way through the novel I hoped that I was wrong but yep just about the dumbest plot twist I could think of was actually in the book Methinks I should have read Misfit's review before reading this one or reread Outlander It's pretty terrible I came across it on my Kindle when looking for a time travel romance like Outlander

It had the makings of being a wonderful read and it wasWould I recommend this book to someone else? My favourite ever historical romance is Diana Gabaldon's OutlanderCross Stitch series Yet for some reason when looking for my next highland romance to read I've skipped past those whose story comes about from time travel Travelling to Scotland for a modelling job Ali Graham goes to sleep tucked up in bed at Dunvegan Castle in the 21st Century and yet wakes in the same room in the 16th century Not sure where I came along Lord of The Isles but I'm so glad I did Its a fantastic story that had me covered in goosebumps by the end of the tale Well worth the read

Mix together a generous portion of the followingSexy brogueKiltsA lochFairy magicTime travelSteamy adult situations sex tooCombine over high heat and throw in a Highland Laird named Rory and a modern heroine named Aileanna aka Ali Serve it up hot and enjoyI was in the mood for a highland fix and this book had everything I have a personal list of ingredients that make a good Highlander tale and this one had it all The cast of characters balanced the story and provided opportunities to understand Rory and Ali better I laughed out loud at some of the antics My heart went out to Ali as she struggled to fit in while still managing to put Rory in check when it was needed I really hope this is a series because I would love to read about this familyThere is so much I could share but I don't want to ruin the suprise plot twists Ms Mazzuca is a tricky one Give her a few hours of your time and I assure you you will get a nice Highlander fix
