I'm surprised by some of the reviews here honestly. I'm currently an OMS II so I had to use this book some last year and I recently decided to buy myself a copy as a reference. This book is purposeful in its content and structure and I believe its well written. (For the record I've also used Savarese's review book and I actually still prefer this)

As one poster mentioned, there are for sure references to studies that are ancient, but I don't think the AOA is thrilled by the use of those studies either, and it's evidenced by the fact that the authors are so careful to include research. In none of my other medical school books are the studies that produced the content so explicit. Additionally, the final 60 pages of the book is exclusively research into osteopathic principles (as opposed to the rest of the book which is explanation of those principles)

The profession is for sure in need of a renaissance, but that desire is clear in every page of this book. This text is a snapshot of the profession, research, and principles in (2019?) and I think that future editions will show the fruits of the clinicians who've dedicated themselves to modernizing the field.

    Very disappointing.
4th edition and always inaccurate or too old references, not meeting the quality criteria of a serious medical publication.
